A Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper is an eyeing exit from the Chloorkop-based club, but Teko Modise thinks that it could be difficult for him to get a move away.
The Siya crew reported earlier in May that Pieterse will look to push for a move away from the Brazilians in the upcoming transfer window, with the player’s representative, revealing that he is eager to find game-time elsewhere.
“Obviously he has lacked on the game-time and it is not that he has any hard feelings towards Sundowns, it is just a career decision that he wants to look for a move where he can go and get game-time, whether it is out on loan, or whether it is an outright transfer. He just wants to move to a club to find game-time,” Gary Cassisa from Mede8 Sports told the Siya crew.

However, speaking in an episode of Soccer Laduma’s Carwash podcast, Modise, who spent six years on the books of Sundowns, thinks that Pieterse will find it hard to make the move away from the Brazilians, likening his situation to that of Thela Ngobeni.
“I think it is going to be difficult for him to find that transfer, because if you look at the history of goalkeepers at Mamelodi Sundowns - Thela Ngobeni always had exceptional loan deals, wherever he goes, he performs, but it is very difficult for him to come out of the contract and for teams to buy him because Sundowns always want to keep him,” he said.

“I see that happening with Reyaad because I think they will be looking at – if something happens to Denis, we need somebody with experience, somebody that can stand in and do the business. But for him, emotionally as a player, the age you are at, you want to play as many games as possible. But, at Sundowns it is very tricky to even get a loan deal, once you are in there, those yellow walls, it is very difficult to (leave) unless they don’t want you there anymore,” Modise added.
