While there are those who have three or four league title medals on display at home, there are those at Mamelodi Sundowns who got the feeling of lifting the Premiership trophy for the first time in their careers.
Sundowns legends Denis Onyango and Hlompho Kekana are record holders, bagging their eighth league title over the weekend and they will surely be inspiring the teammates who won their first league title medals.
This list of first-time league winners includes coach Steve Komphela, who has been in a game for a very long time but has not tasted championship success in his time as a coach.
Komphela got to collect his first medal as a coach, having come in to work with Manqoba Mngqithi and Rulani Mokwena.
Most of Sundowns' signings this season had not won the league before joining the club. In fact, only Kermit Erasmus and George Maluleka had previously won the league title.
For some, it's quite a fairytale story. Grant Margeman and Jody February were both playing their football in the GladAfrica Championship last season, but they are now part of a team that has been crowned kings of South African football again.
Khuliso Mudau was playing in the promotion/relegation play-offs last season with Black Leopards, but is now a league champion. Brian Onyango had been without a club since 2019 and is now a champion with Sundowns.
