Mamelodi Sundowns’ Nedbank Cup clash looks set to be moved to a later date, following confirmation that their CAF Champions League group match against CR Belouizdad will be played this weekend.
Sundowns were due to play the group B clash against Belouizdad on Tuesday, February 23, but the Brazilians were denied the relevant travelling documents due to concerns over COVID-19.
Now the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the clash will be played in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, on Sunday, February 28. Kick off is at 13h00 GMT.
The Tanzania Football Federation has sent an approval letter to host the match between the two sides.
Sundowns' Nedbank Cup last 16 clash against GladAfrica Championship side Polokwane City has been scheduled to be played on Saturday, February 27, but they will have to turn their attention to the Champions League against their Algerians opponents on Sunday.
"If they are playing over the weekend, then they can't play Nedbank Cup. We will send out information because Sundowns is still talking to them about other options, so we are waiting to hear from Sundowns. I was on the phone with Yogesh (Singh) just now. We will wait to see what CAF says," PSL Acting CEO Mato Madlala told the Siya crew.
