SuperSport United are expected to assess one of Mamelodi Sundowns’ young prospects in the coming days to see if he is a good fit for the club.
The Siya crew has been informed that Malebogo ‘Bale’ Modise could be set for yet another loan spell ahead of the new season following a brief sting at Maritzburg United during the 2020/21 campaign – under two different coaches.
With SSU looking to bolster coach Kaitano Tembo’s squad, it’s believed Modise is a player Matsatsantsa would be keen on should the technical team give satisfactory feedback on whether he is a player they could add to their roster.
Modise penned a five-year contract at Downs 12 months ago prior to the Premier Soccer League restart in the bio-bubble while Pitso Mosimane was still in charge at Chloorkop, but he was loaned out to the Midlands a few months later.
Game time was limited, and perhaps the fact that he had to impress two different coaches – Eric Tinkler and then Ernst Middendorp – might have worked against him.
Indications are that he has returned from that stint with Maritzburg and now set for an assessment at SSU, where Tembo will make the final call on the 22-year-old left back nicknamed ‘Bale’ will be signed.
SSU were keen on Orlando Pirates left back Bongani Sam, but with the Buccaneers clearly not willing to sell, Modise could very well be in option.
