Gaston Sirino will be missing for Mamelodi Sundowns when they take on Cape Town City in a DStv Premiership clash on Wednesday night!
But this isn’t because of the ongoing speculation that the Uruguayan will be leaving the club to join Al Ahly before the transfer window closes.
Sirino has been battling with an injury and was ruled out of action for Downs’ opening two league games against Kaizer Chiefs and TTM, but did feature for the Brazilians in the MTN8 quarterfinal win over Bloemfontein Celtic two weeks ago.
He is still in recovery and the technical team hopes to have him available soon, as joint head coach Manqoba Mnqgithi has spoken about his pivotal role this season alongside new strikers Kermit Erasmus, Peter Shalulile and Gift Motupa.
But there remains questions on whether he will be around long enough to see out the entire campaign with interest from Al Ahly intensifying and the player, apparently, unsettled and keen to reunite with former coach Pitso Mosimane.
Sirino penned a new five-year deal earlier this year and it would take a significant amount of money to convince Downs to sell.
But the player may force a move to try strongarm the club into releasing him before the end of the month, when the transfer window in SA slams shut. The Egyptian window closes on December 6.
