Siya sources have revealed to the crew that a Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder is still waiting to be released from the club, despite the transfer window having closed shut.
The July/August transfer window came to a close at midnight on Monday, with the likes of Maritzburg United having pushed for last minute deals.
Jeremy Brockie completed a season-long loan move to the Team Of Choice in the final hour of the transfer window, while Sundowns also terminated the contract of George Lebese, leaving the player free to join up with any interested suitor of his choice, even beyond the transfer window.
However, despite Sundowns also confirming that Sibusiso Khumalo is on his way out of the club, a Siya source had it on good authority that the player is yet to have his contracted terminated.
This means that Khumalo has not received his clearance yesterday, which means that he is technically still on Sundowns books until they officially terminate his contract.
Consequently, Khumalo will have to wait until January before registering with any other interested suitor, this according to FIFA rules regarding a player’s contract that is terminated outside of a transfer window.
