There are many talented players in the PSL, but our secret agent feels that there is no one worth R20 million or more at this stage in the local game, when sold from one local club to another.
It is well known that transfer fees are never revealed by clubs in South Africa, which leaves room for speculation on how much players are bought for.
With certain reports suggesting Mamelodi Sundowns have forked out in the region of R25 million to bring Teboho Mokoena on board from SuperSport United, our secret agent believes there is no player worth that amount of money in the PSL.
Some of the most valuable players in the league, according to Transfermarkt, are Peter Shalulile, Themba Zwane, Khama Billiat, Keagan Dolly, Thapelo Morena and Mokoena, who has completed a move to Sundowns, as reported by the Siya crew.
"If any team is prepared to pay that for any player, I don't understand why he is not overseas. I think Mokoena is good enough to play in Europe and that should (have been) his first option. I know it might be in SuperSport's best interests to get R20 or R25 million, but I think for the player, he he really needs to go to Europe," our secret agent told the Siya crew.
"In my opinion, I don't think any player is worth that money in the PSL. I can't remeber what (Peter) Shalulile was bought for, but I think it was around R10 to R12 million. You see how well he is doing right now, so it's difficult to put a monetary amount on the best player in South Africa."
