Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has continued to punt rivals Kaizer Chiefs as title favourites for the 2019/19 season.
Following their Shell Helix Ultra Cup clash on Saturday, an encounter Amakhosi ran out 4-2 winners at FNB Stadium, Mosimane explained why he thought the current Absa Premiership log leaders could win the championship.
“They are very strong and competitive and I still have them as favourites to win the league. That is the difference between this Chiefs team and the one from last year. Not anybody can score four goals against Sundowns,” Mosimane told the media.
He argued that their non-participation in the MTN8 and continental competitions will also boost their chances.
“Chiefs did well, they are prepared. They had no Top Eight, no Champions League and going on flights and all that. So this is what I said about Bidvest Wits last time. When you have a situation like this and you are a team of integrity, how low can you go? You can never go lower than 10th position. You will always come up and Ernst (Middendorp) has brought integrity to the team. It shows,” said Mosimane.
Sundowns will host Chiefs in a league match on October 27.
