Pitso Mosimane rates Rivaldo Coetzee quite highly but revealed that he needs the player to start expressing himself some more.
The 23-year-old featured alongside Hlompho Kekana in midfield on Saturday evening, when Mamelodi Sundowns secured a 3-2 win over Bidvest Wits in the Nedbank Cup competition.
Coetzee was initially signed to play in the centre-back position, however, over the past few months, the player has been flourishing in midfield; a position which he also personally prefers.
“On Rivaldo, you must thank coach Manqoba because he is the one who fought for Rivaldo to play in the central midfield. The free-kicks that he delivers, he whips them in, he has the technique,” Mosimane told the media after the game.
“But Riva needs to come out of the shell, he is not the player who expresses himself a lot and that is what we are encouraging, we want him to play more.
“He played with KK (Hlompho Kekana) today as a six and he did very well and what a performance. The way it is at Sundowns we have enough resources in terms of players. We share the cake, he started and did well.”
