It seems that at least one of Mamelodi Sundowns’ technical members could headed with Pitso Mosimane on a flight to Egypt.
The football fraternity came to a standstill yesterday when initial reports emerged in local media that Mosimane had handed in his resignation to Sundowns, despite recently putting pen to paper on a new four-year contract at the club.
However, it was not long after that the news was confirmed by both Mosimane and the club’s president, Dr Patrice Motsepe. ‘Jingles’ as he is fondly known in the football fraternity, is heading to North Africa to join Egyptian giants, Al Ahly.
During all the commotion yesterday, the Siya crew did some further digging into the situation and as already revealed on the Soccer Laduma website, sources suggested at the time that Mosimane had been in talks with some of his backroom staff members about joining him in Egypt.
The Siya crew subsequently broke the news that assistant coaches Rulani Mokwena and Manqoba Mngqithi was set to stay put at the Chloorkop-based club, while fitness trainer Kabelo Rangoaga is still in talks about his future.
However, one technical team member from the Brazilians’ set-up has since been spotted with Mosimane at the airport today.
Indications are that performance analyst, Musi Matlaba will join the head coach at Al Ahly after he was seen on Mosimane’s Instagram live with his bags packed - boarding a flight with the now-former Sundowns head coach.
