Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi says their upcoming opponents Kaizer Chiefs have shown significant signs of improvement under interim coach Arthur Zwane.
Zwane along with Dillon Sheppard were tasked with seeing out the remainder of the season following the club’s decision to part ways with coach Stuart Baxter.
Things have not been smooth sailing for the young duo in the Chiefs dugout, with the club suffering four consecutive defeats which was eventually snapped up by a win over Marumo Gallants last weekend.

Now, ahead of their clash against champions Sundowns this Sunday, Zwane has received praise from his counterpart Mngqithi, who says the Glamour Boys have shown significant improvement in his short reign.
“I think there is a significant improvement, first from the personnel perspective. I think the average age of the team has dropped so much, so naturally the intensity of the game is also improving and the style of play has improved significantly in a very short space of time,” Mngqithi told journalists on Thursday.
“Maybe not improved as such, but it has gone back to what it was last season. I think when Arthur [Zwane] took over from Gavin [Hunt] we saw some glimpses of very interesting performances, more especially from the youngsters, the [Nkosingiphile] Ngcobos, the [Sabelo] Radebes, there are quite a lot of very good youngsters in that Chiefs team.
“Even now when we are doing our analysis, we are looking at the number of passes per game, it has improved significantly in a very short space of time. They’ve made some glaring mistakes in the past as well, but in football you must know, if you kill with a sword, you die with a sword,” Mngqithi added.
