Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Manqoba Mngqithi explained how maybe having two very balanced squads will benefit the Brazilians in all competitions, domestically and on the continent.
Sundowns currently have a number of players on their books and while they are yet to make careful decisions about how the club will be trimming down the squad, the technical team will relish having as many quality players to choose from for the current 2020/21 campaign.
“It is important to have your starting 11, we know that these are the players that you believe will be your first team,” Mngqithi told the media after Sundowns’ 1-0 loss to Bloemfontein Celtic in the MTN8 competition.

“But with the quality we have, we also have to be considerate that maybe we can have two very balanced squads and we will be putting ourselves in a better space when we have a lot of travelling and games in Champions and the domestic league.
“But the truth of the matter, the group that we played today was the group that was available. If you saw the list of players that could not play today, it was a little bit longer, the list of players who would predominantly be in your starting 11, unfortunately, we could not use them for medical reasons and other issues and injuries.
“But we were happy with the group that we had and we were somehow forced into positions because of the circumstances that I have mentioned before but every coach would want to have one team that he is 100 percent sure and try to tweak and here and there, where there is a need,” he added.
