Mamelodi Sundowns club ambassador Tiyani Mabunda has explained why his decision to bring an end to his career was not necessarily difficult.
At 33, Mabunda could certainly have carried on playing for a few more seasons, but he took the decision to bring an end to his career which saw him win the biggest prize on the continent, the CAF Champions League in 2016.
Mabunda now serves Sundowns as a club ambassador, working close with veteran club official, Alex Shakoane.
"Honestly for me, I had been having this thought for many years. I believe that God has given me a chance to maximize my talent and God has allowed me to reach heights that not many have managed to reach. For me to have been given the opportunity to reach the heights that I did and acquire what I acquired, it can only be through the hand of God," Mabunda told media recently at a MTN8 event.
"Now God has called me to a different assignment and I am one person who loves a challenge. God has placed me in a different department and I also need to excel in the same way. I believe this is time for God to do what he wants through me."
