There's so many records Themba Zwane could be inspired in football, but the one he has his eyes set on is the one recorded by basketball legend Michael Jordan.
'Mshishi' won his fifth Premiership title with Mamelodi Sundowns this past season and he is hoping to win a sixth one, to emulate the number of championshipa Jordan won with the Chicago Bulls. Jordan is one of people Zwane's is inspired by.
"It feels good. I set a target for myself that I want to win six titles like Michael Jordan. That's why I am pushing so hard every season to win a title," Zwane told the Siya crew.
"Michael Jordan is someone who motivates me and so many others as athletes. Even though he played basketball and I play football, I get motivated when I look at him. He makes me want to work hard. I watched the documentary 'The Last Dance' and you could see that the guy was dedicated to his job. If you work hard, you will win and you will get recognised and you will get respect."
It was Sundowns' fourth league title in a row and they were the first club to finish an entire season with just one defeat and no loss away from home. Creating history, according to Zwane, is what they try to do season in and out.
"At Sundowns, we always want to create history. That's the culture. That's why we are one of the biggest teams in Africa. We want to create history each and every time. It feels good," the midfielder said.
