A bright future is predicted for Nyiko Mobbie with Mamelodi Sundowns, though the player is currently on loan for the 2019/20 season.
The 25-year-old right-back was loaned to Stellenbosch FC in August, after signing with Downs from Free State Stars at the end of last season.
In loaning the defender, Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane said Mobbie would have a chance of playing more matches at the Mother City outfit than at the Brazilians if he was to stay as the ex-Bafana Bafana mentor already had experienced Anele Ngcongca and Thapelo Morena for the same position in his team.
So far in the campaign, Mobbie has made a whopping 20 starts out of the 24 matches under coach Steve Barker.
Meanwhile, Mobbie’s former coach Luc Eymael who nurtured the right-back to be one of the top in the league for his position, has commended Downs for their decision to loan the player.
“I like what Sundowns did on Nyiko Mobbie. They loaned him to Stellenbosch to get game-time. I like Nyiko Mobbie because he is a very good right-back. He’s a fantastic player. One day Nyiko Mobbie will come back to Sundowns and will be very strong,” said Eymael.
“It’s the same thing they did with Percy Tau if you remember. Percy Tau was loaned to a club in the First Division (Witbank Spurs) and he came back stronger. (Themba) Zwane also (was loaned to Mpumalanga Black Aces),” the Belgian coach told the Siya crew.
