Mamelodi Sundowns confirmed that Rivaldo Coetzee left the stadium on crutches last night.
The Brazilians secured a 3-1 Absa Premiership win over Stellenbosch FC at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, although the evening ended in heartbreak for one of their key players.
Coetzee was stretchered off in the second half after a tackle from Stellenbosch’s captain, Mogamad de Goede, where he consequently was shown a red card, while Coetzee was taken down the tunnel to be assessed.
The Brazilians since confirmed on their official Twitter account that Coetzee left the stadium on crutches last night, with the extent of his injury yet to be revealed.
“A horrible tackle on Rivaldo Coetzee last night meant he left the stadium on crutches and needing X-Rays, details to follow,” Sundowns said.
