Mamelodi Sundowns have touched down in Egypt this morning as they look to begin the next phase of preparations for an important CAF Champions League clash.
The Brazilians will lock horns with Al Ahly on Saturday, February 29, in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-final, this before returning to Mzansi to host the Egyptian giants for the return leg.
The two sides are no strangers to each other in the competition, as they’ve also faced each other in last year’s quarterfinal showdown.
The Brazilians sent Al Ahly packing out of the last eight in the previous campaign, where a big 5-1 aggregate win for Masandawana saw them through to the semi-finals.
However, Sundowns will be eager to improve on their away record against the Egyptian side, despite the Brazilians always able to complete the job back home.
Sundowns go in to this weekend’s encounter with several players still on their injury list, most recently, Anele Ngcongca, Ricardo Nascimento and Mosa Lebusa, although it remains to be seen whether they will make a return to action on Saturday.
