Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that Tiyani Mabunda will stay with the club in a different role.
The club recently announced that Mabunda's contract as a player would not be renewed, but they have now confirmed that he will now become the club's ambassador, as was first reported by the Siya crew.
"To be a brand ambassador of Mamelodi Sundowns is really a great honour, for the club recognise my efforts and to give me an opportunity. It's really important because of the responsibility I have carried throughout the years within the club and the influence we have gained. For me to be part of the club as an ambassador in a different role is really an exciting thing.
Mabunda explained what he will be doing as a club ambassador of the defending DStv Premiership champions.
"At Sundowns, it's never easy to come into this club because the responsibility as a footballer is really great. Mine is to just assist the new guys who come in and all those who need assistance in challenges they may encounter within their playing time. It's to also make sure the voice of the supporters is continuously heard. We've seen over the years they have been very vocal about themselves and them being part of Mamelodi Sundowns. I think this is a great opportunity to interlink both the supporters and the players to become one big family."
