Downs On Departed Star: It Was A Fair Decision

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi has explained why letting Tebogo Langerman leave Chloorkop was a "fair decision".

The 35-year-old Langerman has joined Swallows FC on a permanent deal ahead of the new campaign after serving Sundowns for nine years which saw him win every major title except the MTN8 that has eluded the club for a while now.

The biggest of them all is without a doubt the CAF Champions League title in 2016 and he will forever be remembered by the club's supporters for the goal he scored in the first-leg final against Zamalek in Atteridgeville.

After playing just seven times in all competitions last season, the player parted ways with Sundowns, leaving with many memories.

"He served Sundowns with a lot of dignity and honour. He has been very instrumental in our attacking play. He created a lot of very good moments for the team over the years. He has even scored some crucial goals for us and he is a very good professional."

"He was liked by probably everyone at the club, but it was always going to be difficult for us, if we are good human beings, to want to keep him in the club when he is not getting regular game time and there are people knocking on the door for him to go get regular game time," Mngqithi told media ahead of the MTN8 clash against Kaizer Chiefs this Sunday, August 15.

"It was a very fair decision from the coaches, the club in general, to make the call because it's in his interest to play regular game time, let him go play regularly. Last season he barely had a game. In the few games he played, to be honest, he did not play bad. Unfortunately, last season Lyle Lakay also had some very good moments," Mngqithi said.
