Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits could find themselves in a messy situation regarding their fixtures next year after CAF confirmed that they have shifted dates for some games.
Sundowns and Wits get their CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup group stage games underway later this week as the Absa Premiership sides seek a winning start against Petro de Luanda and Horoya AC respectively, and will also play two more games before the year is out.
While those three fixtures remain unchanged for the Premier Soccer League duo, all three of their group games in the new year have been brought forward by a month by the governing body, as has the quarterfinal draw and the quarterfinals themselves.
Masandawana’s games against Orlando Pirates, Bloemfontein Celtic and Kaizer Chiefs in the league will be affected by the change, while the Clever Boys’ ties with Golden Arrows, Highlands Park and Celtic will now need to be moved.
CAF confirmed the changes (as seen above) on their official social media channels this week, but there has been no word from the league about what will happen with the fixtures in the new year that have already been scheduled for both outfits – they’re still listed on the official website.
