Keletso Makgalwa has started training with his potential new club having now agreed a deal in principle to leave Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Siya crew reported on Monday that the stocky striker was being targeted by Swallows to add to their firepower and that the Brazilians also wanted to get him game time due to their own reinforcements.
Given the plethora of forwards at Chloorkop following the arrival of Pavol Safranko and Thabiso Kutumela, who are boosting a team that already has Peter Shalulile, Kermit Erasmus and Gift Motupa in their attack, Makgalwa had to go on loan.
It’s now been confirmed to the Siya crew that the deal is all but done, especially after the player was spotted at Swallows’ training base in Johannesburg.
What remains outstanding, insiders have said, is the paperwork between the Dube Birds and Makgalwa’s parent club Downs.
He is the second player set to be unveiled by Swallows this week after goalkeeper Jody February also closed in on a loan deal from Sundowns to the Dube Birds.
But it remains to be seen how the deals will be structured because the Soweto club already has two players on loan from Orlando Pirates in Austin Muwowo and Monnapule Saleng – and the Premier Soccer League only allows five loan agreements between member clubs.
