There are under 10 league fixtures to be played before the conclusion of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership campaign and while Chiefs are favourites for the title as they currently lead the log, many have been backing Sundowns to overtake their Soweto rivals.
Speaking in issue 1179 of Soccer Laduma, former Bafana Bafana international, Katlego Mphela thinks that the Brazilians will end up winning the league this season, as they will be a well-rested side when football returns.
“If the league had gone on, I think Chiefs was going to win it. Now I think Sundowns has a better chance. Before, Sundowns played a lot of games without getting any rest. Now they are resting. It’s what they needed. They will come back fresh. Also, they have been together for a long time and they have been consistent. I think they are doing it purposefully because they are renewing contracts of their players. Now these guys are happy and the mood in the camp will be positive, so this works for them. They have a coach (Pitso Mosimane) who has the experience. He wants to win it again and I am telling you now that he is doing his analysis right now. I see Sundowns winning it, to be honest,” Mphela said in an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma.
