Mamelodi Sundowns’ youngsters scored 13 goals against Kaizer Chiefs at the weekend, taking some revenge ahead of this weekend’s crunch Absa Premiership clash between the two.
Masandawana’s youth sides made the trip to Soweto for a handful of encounters with the Glamour Boys on Saturday morning, getting a result that will please supporters following the 4-2 Shell Helix Ultra Cup defeat when the senior teams met earlier in the month.
Chiefs’ U13s, U15s, U17s and U19s all hosted their counterparts from Sundowns over the weekend at Naturena, but it wasn’t a good day at the office for the young Amakhosi hopefuls as all but their U17s were comfortably beaten.
The club put the following brief reports on their official website this week:
U13s – Chiefs 0-2 Sundowns
The Amakhosi U13s went down to Sundowns 2-0 conceding a goal in each half as they lost after winning their game in midweek against Highlands Park 3-1.
U15 – Chiefs 0-5 Sundowns
The Amakhosi U15 team were defeated 5-0 in their game against the Sundowns U15 team. They also had midfielder Serero Mamatela stretched off with a broken forearm he fell awkwardly going for the ball and was rushed to hospital for further treatment.
U17s – Chiefs 2-2 Sundowns
Chiefs U17 team took the lead early on in their game against Sundowns but soon found themselves trailing 2-1. It took a good team move to see them find themselves level in the second half when Rivaldo Mabeba ghosted in between two defenders to deftly head home a cross from the right as the game ended 2-2.
U19s – Chiefs 1-4 Sundowns
The Chiefs U19 team who were on a two-game winning streak saw that come to an end with a 4-1 loss against Sundowns.
Next up for Chiefs' youth is a double-header with Orlando Pirates, facing them once on Tuesday and then again on Saturday.
