A former Mamelodi Sundowns star has commented on the success of Pitso Mosimane as the coach of the club, while suggesting that the Brazilians should keep the head coach in their set-up for a long time.
Since joining Sundowns in December 2012, Mosimane managed to turn the side into a force to be reckoned with both locally and on the continent, after he led the team to many trophies, including league titles and a CAF Champions League.
Former Sundowns midfielder Koketso Mmotong has suggested that the Chloorkop club should keep Mosimane at the helm for years to come.
“Sundowns have no option but to keep Pitso. Pitso brought a lot of changes at Sundowns and made the difference. Before his arrival, the club had tried different coaches from all over the world and that didn’t work well for them. All those coaches could not make the team gel in the same way that Pitso made it to,” said Mmotong, and speaking to the Siye crew.
“For them to allow him to leave would be a big mistake. But knowing the President (Patrice Motsepe), he is a clever man and he knows what to do. He can see that Pitso has brought a lot of changes at Sundpwns. I’m sure the way Sundowns is playing is the way that the President wants them to play. It’s the way the supporters like. Allowing the coach to leave would be a mistake. If some coaches can stay in one team for 27 years, why can’t Pitso do the same? He has delivered. He is on the right track. He is bringing trophies to the club every season and what else do you want?” he said.
