It’s been confirmed by FIFA that Mamelodi Sundowns’ Hlompho Kekana has received a nomination for the FIFA Puskas award.
FIFA announced this afternoon all the nominees for each prestigious award categories and Kekana’s strike against Cape Town City back in August last year, is in the running for the Puskas award alongside many spectacular goals scored all over the world last season.
"A shortlist of 11 nominees for the FIFA Puskás Award - honouring the best goal of the year - was compiled by a panel of football experts. Votes from FIFA.com users will whittle these down to a final trio, from which football fans voting on FIFA.com will be responsible for 50 per cent of the votes cast, with a panel of football experts providing the other 50 per cent. The victor from that process will be revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards show in Zurich on Thursday 17 December,” the governing body of football revealed on their official website.
“The winner of the FIFA Puskás Award will be selected by an international jury comprising a panel of FIFA Legends and by the fans from all over the world registered on FIFA.com. Each of the two groups of voters within the jury has the same electoral weight.”
