Soccer Laduma has been informed that an agreement has been reached for a midfielder to continue to the season with his current club before making the move to Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Siya crew revealed back in April this year that Ajax Cape Town’s Grant Margeman put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Brazilians and was expected to make the move to Chloorkop-based club at the end of the season in May.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the three-month break in football, the 2019/20 domestic season will run beyond June 30 and as per FIFA’s recommendations, any player whose contract expires at the initial end date of the season, will have to sign a short-term deal in order to continue the campaign with their current clubs.
It’s been confirmed to the Siya crew that Margeman’s camp, Sundowns and Ajax have reached an agreement for the 22-year-old to complete the season with the Urban Warriors.
“Yes, the two clubs have agreed for Grant to continue the season with Ajax Cape Town,” Ntobatsi Masegela, the Managing Director of Futbolrs Agency confirmed.
Ajax are top of the GladAfrica Championship table, leading the standings by 7 points and will be happy that they can hold on to one of their key midfielders as they continue their fight back in to South Africa’s top flight.
