The next week weeks of May will be important for Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder George Maluleka as the deadline to exercise the option in his contract looms.
The Siya crew has previously reported that Sundowns have a deadline of May 31 to say whether or not they want to keep the 33-year-old midfielder for another season, as confirmed by the player's representative Sean Roberts.
It's been a topsy-turvy season for the former Kaizer Chiefs and Ajax Cape Town player, who recently got a chance to play but has not featured in the club's last two DSTV Premiership matches against Sekhukhune United and Cape Town City, as well as the Nedbank Cup semi-final against Royal AM.
In total, Maluleka has featured five times in all competitions for the 12-time PSL champions and, at this stage, the Siya crew has been led to believe that Sundowns have not made communication with the player and his representative to indicate if they want to hold onto him beyond the end of the current campaign.
Maluleka's camp have given Sundowns first preference and will wait for a decision from the club before they start to look at other avenues for the club. The player is determined to play more football, but he might not get much of it if he were to stay another season at Chloorkop.
