Sirino Speaks And Not Deterred After Pitso’s Comments

Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Gaston Sirino remains focused on his job at the club, despite Pitso Mosimane’s recent comments about him crying to make a move to Al Ahly.

Mosimane was determined to sign Sirino for Al Ahly, but the move did not happen after talks were terminated by Mamelodi Sundowns, due to the fact that the clubs were nowhere near reaching an agreement for a transfer fee.

In a Zoom press conference with SAJFA on Wednesday, Mosimane stated that Sirino is crying for a move to Al Ahly and explained why he feels sorry that the club could not secure the player a move up north to Cairo.

“We move on with Gaston Sirino. You’ve seen what he has said. He spoke openly about missing the opportunity to play for the biggest club on the continent. I understand. Gaston had a chance and he is crying for that chance, I know that for sure,” Mosimane said when he was asked about missing out on signing the player.

However, speaking to the Sundowns media department, Sirino said he is delighted to be back in the team, having missed the first eight league matches of the season.

“I feel happy to be back in the side after being away for a long time. It’s a great feeling to come back and help the team with an assist or a goal whenever I can and I just want to go out and work hard for the side.”

“This season we just want to make sure we keep the standard from last season and bring more accolades to the club, we want to dominate the league and go further in CAF Champions League, it is a cup where we come up against very good teams and we do have the players that can go out there and win the cup.”
