According to reports, Mamelodi Sundowns’ latest signing, Bolivian international Erwin Saavedra, has broken his silence ahead of his move to the Brazilians.
As reported by the Siya crew, Sundowns have snapped up the 25-year-old on a transfer fee believed to be upward of R10 million as the club looks to challenge for the coveted CAF Champions League title, as well as maintain their dominance on the local scene.
The player’s club for the last decade or so, Bolivar have already bid farewell to their captain.
Now, the player has opened up on his reasons for seeking a change of scenery and says he feels he has reached the right level of maturity ahead of his move to Chloorkop.
“I looked for this opportunity for a long time, happy and grateful to the people who noticed my football. I am more mature to leave the country”, Saavedra told Bolivian website Futbolistasbol.
“I feel like leaving the country to show my football in another country. It is very difficult for Bolivian players to be valued in other countries, this is a motivation for me, I hope it goes very well”, he added.
According to the website, Saavedra is expected to touch down in Mzansi some time in February with the player currently doing duty for the Bolivian national team who will face Venezuela and Chile in the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers later this month.
