Mamelodi Sundowns have won their first big prize of the season.
The defending league champions have been confirmed as DSTV Premiership Q-Innovation Quarter One winners on goal difference, following their goalless draw with Tshwane rivals SuperSport United over the weekend.
Sundowns beat Swallows FC to the R1.5 million prize money. Both sides are on 25 points, but Sundowns have a superior goal difference, thanks to their strong attack and solid defence. They've scored 16 goals, the most by any club in the league so far this season, and conceded just five times.
Masandawana recorded five wins in their first eight games of the season and remain just one of three teams in the PSL yet to lose a league match this term.
Midfielder Themba Zwane has been the key man for the side during this period, scoring eight goals. The likes of Peter Shalulile and Kermit Erasmus have also contributed with important goals for the club, and a lot more will be expected of them as Sundowns look to build on from their good start, with the aim of winning what would be a historic fourth straight Premiership title.
