Rulani's Tshwane Derby Message To Players

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has stressed the importance of not getting carried away in the Tshwane Derby.

Sundowns go into the match as log leaders, but SuperSport are right behind in second place, trailing by just two points. It’s a game Sundowns has dominated over the years, but SuperSport cannot be underestimated, especially looking at how they have been performing in recent weeks, with the likes of Bradley Grobler, Thamsanqa Gabuza and Sipho Mbule showing some fine form.

“It’s an important game of course. You can’t run away from the fact that it’s a derby and there’s bragging rights and there’s a lot of emotional opportunities that are at stake,” Mokwena told the Sundowns media department ahead of the match.

“If we play the match, and not play the occasion, we should be okay. We shouldn’t be carried away by the event, the occasion of it being a derby. Our sole focus to play the match as an 11 versus 11 event. We will have to ask a lot of questions of on and really impress our philosophy and our personality onto the match, then we should be okay. Our greatest message is to play the match, not the event.”
