The two players were Siphesihle Mkhize and Musawenkosi Mdhluli.
About a year before that, the club promoted Promise Mkhuma to the senior team under then coach Pitso Mosimane and handed him a five-year contract.
The youth academy at Chloorkop has turned into a conveyer belt of talent, with Percy Tau one of the players to have come out of those ranks and shot to stardom.
Last month, Tau was recalled by his English Premier League parent club Brighton and Hove Albion from his loan spell with Belgian outfit Anderlecht and has since made several appearances in the top flight.
Although he also had to endure a few spells elsewhere as a Sundowns player, Tau was brought back with the Brazilians thin during the 2016 CAF Champions League, a cup they would then go on to win with Mosimane in charge.
It’s been argued Tau paved the way for the likes of Mkhuma, Mkhize and Mdhluli and many more are set to follow with their reserve league excelling.
