Mamelodi Sundowns returned from their first ever pre-season break in five years on June 25 and have since snuck out of Chloorkop for a camp in sunny Nelspruit as they prepare for the upcoming 2019/20 season.
The Brazilians have been discreet in their arrangements and have yet to announce any new arrivals, though it has been confirmed by Free State Stars that right back Nyiko Mobbie will be joining the reigning champions.
With coach Pitso Mosimane in Egypt last month as an analyst for Time Sports during the early part of the Africa Cup of Nations, it would appear Downs players reported for duty in his absence, although he has returned.
Mosimane was also a pundit for pay channel SuperSport at the weekend when Bafana Bafana managed what was arguably the biggest shock of the tournament by beating hosts Egypt 1-0 at the Cairo International Stadium to progress to the quarterfinals, where they will now face Nigeria tomorrow night.
Sundowns are currently camping in Nelspruit and could still move to another unnamed destination – Mosimane having indicated a while back that he is planning trips outside South Africa to acclimatise to conditions similar to where the Brazilians will be playing their CAF Champions League matches.
The PSL has already sent fixture drafts for the 2019/20 season to all the team, but Downs are yet to officially release theirs publicly.
