Pitso Mosimane has suggested he is not after the services of Golden Boot winner Mwape Musonda, but the Mamelodi Sundowns coach has nonetheless cautioned the striker regarding his future.
The Zambian hitman has been linked to Kaizer Chiefs in recent weeks following his impressive 18-goals streak during the season that has just ended.
But Mosimane, speaking to journalists this week, advised Musonda to spend one more season with Lidoda Duvha.
“He has done well and scored important goals for the team. He helped them survive relegation and he had them on his shoulders,” Mosimane said.
“I hope he stays where he is, but I am not the right person to say he must stay or go. Black Leopards needs him – and he knows he has travelled a little bit to find a stable home. You know that you can move from a club where you were appreciated and then you move somewhere and nothing happens. So be careful of moving when you are being loved and people want to keep you.”
Musonda is an ex-Orlando Pirates striker having had a forgettable stint there some three years ago before joining Golden Arrows and later Leopards.
He was the National First Division top scorer last year and has repeated the feat again in the Premier League with the same team.
After receiving his Golden Boot award on Sunday, Musonda told the Siya crew he would be open to a move to Chiefs – if it came – to challenge himself.
