Having played for both Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates among other clubs during his time in Mzansi, Togolese international Dove Wome has made a comparison between the two clubs.
Wome played in the Absa Premiership for more than six years, having first arrived in Mzansi in 2011 for Free State Stars before moving to Sundowns in 2013.
The attacking midfielder had a stint with Pirates in 2017, having joined the Soweto giants on loan from SuperSport United for the second half of the 2016/17 season.
Although he spent only six months with the Buccaneers, Wome seems to have enjoyed being at the club more than at the Brazilians.
“I had good experience with a big club (Pirates) after I had also played for Sundowns, but there is a big difference between them,” he told the Siya crew.
Asked to explain the ‘difference’, the 29-year-old said, “It’s only now that Sundowns have a lot of supporters but when I joined them the club didn’t have a lot of supporters the way they have now. Pirates have a lot of supporters anywhere in South Africa. Sundowns didn’t have a lot of supporters but after winning the Champions League and a lot of cups, a lot of supporters joined them. So, that’s the difference between the two clubs.”
