Mamelodi Sundowns have been outclassing almost every team they have played against this season in the DStv Premiership, but can they extend their unbeaten run to matchday 30?
The Brazilians have won four out five fixtures played in Mzansi’s top-flight and have done so in impressive fashion - by scoring two or more goals in each of their victories thus far.
However, the 0-0 draw against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila earlier this season remains in the way of a perfect run so far.
But can Sundowns end up going the entire season without a loss? The Brazilians’ coach, Manqoba Mngqithi was asked whether an ‘invincible’ run in the 2020/21 campaign is part of their goals this season.
"I believe it is too early (to tell). It is a 30km marathon. We have just finished 5km and we can’t be making noise. We know we are still going to have some hurdles but it is every coach’s wish and every player’s wish to win every match that you play,” Mngqithi told the media after their 3-0 win over Stellenbosch FC.
“But it is always better to concentrate each game at a time because the moment you start having big dreams, you might fault in your step. So it is very important that we give it our best shot against every match. The next assignment is against Maritzburg, we must give it the attention it deserves and based on that it is very important for us to keep our feet on the ground and stay humble and modest, know what we are capable of but not become overconfident. And believe me, the PSL this season is going to be very hard.”
