The Siya crew has been informed that Mamelodi Sundowns could let go of one of their players in the coming weeks.
Big Ivorian defender Bangaly Soumahoro spent another season at Chloorkop as a fringe player, hardly featuring in the team’s successful campaign which saw them claiming a fourth straight Premiership title.
The 29-year-old made just six appearances in all competitions for the champions this past season, getting a total of 116 minutes on the pitch. It’s three more appearances than he managed in the 2019/20 campaign with the club. He is a bit-part player and indications are that he is likely to make an exit from the club.
Soumahoro still has a year to run on his current deal with Masandawana, but is unlikely to be around to see out the rest of his contract with the club.
According to information received by the Siya crew, the big defender could remain in the PSL, though it’s unclear at this stage if there are any clubs interested in his services.
As previously reported by the Siya crew, Sundowns are parting ways with midfielder and CAF Champions League winner Tiyani Mabunda, who has received an offer for his services.
Veteran left-lack Tebogo Langerman, who also won the Champions League title with Sundowns in 2016, is another player who could be on his way out of Chloorkop, with chances of regular game-time slim at the moment, with Aubrey Modiba and Lyle Lakay ahead of him in that position.
