Kermit Erasmus faces a nervy few days as he awaits the results of his MRI scan to determine the extent of what looked a ‘bad’ injury at the weekend.

The striker lasted 12 minutes in Mamelodi Sundowns’ away DStv Premiership win at Stellenbosch on Saturday afternoon, having come on early in the second half to replace Gaston Sirino, but was quickly forced off the pitch himself.
“I went to him (after the game) and it’s not looking very good, but fortunately it’s not an Achilles – it’s his ankle. He is already on the moonboot and we are just praying that when they do the scans it’s not a very bad injury,” co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi told the media when asked for an update at the time.
“We know how important he is for us. We are just praying he is back quickly because he has had a very good impact in our team. There’s no doubt he is still going to help us.”
The Siya crew understands that Erasmus did not go for a scan on Monday due to the swelling on his ankle and it was expected he will do so a day later or on Wednesday.
As a result, the striker was ruled out of their CAF Champions League clash against TP Mazembe on Tuesday night.
The outcome from the scan will determine how long Erasmus will be sidelined for, and the technical team will be hoping the injury is not as serious as it first appeared.
