Pitso Mosimane could still reunite with an ex-Mamelodi Sundowns player at Al Ahly, and it might not be Gaston Sirino.
‘Jingles’ was hopeful he would sign the Uruguayan attacker before the Egyptian transfer window slammed shut on December 6, but Downs, even with Sirino coming out publicly that he wanted to leave, rejected Ahly’s bid.
With the move collapsing and Sirino still contracted to Sundowns for the next four years, his suitors are understood to be considering alternatives.
As such, Keagan Dolly’s name has come up.
He has been a target of Ahly for some time now and even before Mosimane joined them, but it was Montpellier who snapped him up instead.
Dolly is now in the final year of his contract with the French Ligue 1 outfit and the North Africans are thought to be keen on him on a cut-price deal.
Montpellier may look to extend his contract, and Siya sources have informed the crew that Dolly is still keen to stay in Europe, unless the offer from Ahly is worth his while financially – something that isn’t out of the question considering the recruitment the club has done over the years, including signing players from the English Premier League.
Dolly, 27, worked with Mosimane at Downs for three years, wining the domestic title and the 2016 CAF Champions League before his switch to France.
Ahly have not met Downs’ evaluation of R50-million, and the idea of landing Dolly on a pre-contract or cut-price could be more enticing.

Downs have signed 14 players this season, but they've let go just as as many!
