A South African football agent has shared his thoughts about the current situation involving Pitso Mosimane and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The contract saga between to the two parties have been dragging out for quite some time now, with the Brazilians yet to secure Mosimane’s signature on an extended deal.
Mosimane, whose contract expires on June 30, admitted earlier this month that he is the one waiting for Sundowns to make their decision on the contract situation since he has already ‘complied’ on his end.
Speaking to the Siya crew, football agent Sbusiso Nkosi shared his thoughts on the situation:
“To me, it is quite an unfortunate situation with what is happening with Pitso Mosimane’s contract at Mamelodi Sundowns, because if you look back at how much Pitso has won at the club, he’s won everything there is, the CAF Champions League and League titles and cups, he has stabilized the team.”
“Also, if you check the fan base of the team it has improved a lot from what it was before. I remember that they didn’t know which stadium to play at because they were struggling with numbers in the stands, but now they’ve got Lucas Moripe and Loftus Verfeld and it is quite the same crowd of supporters every time they play. He has created a good atmosphere you know.”
“But what is happening with him, it sounds like Pitso is begging the team for a contract, which is supposed to be the other way around, the team is supposed to beg him to sign, we know Pitso is a very tactical coach, he is very smart, every small details - he uses them. It is quite sad that it is taking this long, but it is also quite well-documented that there are people within Sundowns that don’t want Pitso, so it might maybe be that they are causing the delay so he might get fed up and leave you know.”
