Mampshika Tips Madibaz
University of Limpopo coach Burney Mampshika has tipped NMMU Madibaz to make the final following his side's 3-0 loss to the PE students.
Mampshika was disappointed with the result after creating clear chances in the first half but has said he was happy with the effort of his team until they conceded the first goal.
"We fought hard in the first half and only have ourselves to blame for not taking our chances. We were in the game until the first goal went in and then the heads dropped," he said.
Limpopo were without five key players who missed the trip to the Windy City as they had academic commitments and the inexperience of the team showed itself after conceding a soft goal due to a breakdown in communication between the goalkeeper and the defenders.
Mampshika said the defeat wasn't a result of his team being outplayed by the Madibaz but more as a result of the team going into their shell despite his best efforts to motivate them.
"I tried motivating the team after that first goal but it didn't help. They dropped their heads and it was hard for me to get them to keep pressing forward," he added.
The Limpopo coach was impressed with Madibaz playmaker Kieran Koert, who made an immediate impact on the game when he was brought on in the second half.
"He (Koert) is an intelligent player. It's very rare to find a player who is so in tune with his game. His work rate on and off the ball sets him apart from the rest, especially off the ball because he loses his marker at will," he stated.
Limpopo will head to Johannesburg for their last game of the tournament and will be hoping to go out with their heads held high against the log leaders, UJ.
