Fearless Limpopo Head To PE
Languishing second from bottom on the log, the University of Limpopo head to PE knowing they are playing for pride and will have no fear in their hearts.
Coach Burney Mampshika knows his side will be serious underdogs but feels that playing for pride is the fuel his side needs to claim their first win of the tournament, and with it, a major upset.
Limpopo already upset the apple cart when they travelled to the Cape and walked away with an unlikely draw against a UWC outfit who have an outside chance of making the knock-out phase of the competition.
"We are well prepared for NMMU. We have no fear and we playing for pride. Just like we did against UWC, we will do our best to pull off another upset," Mampshika said.
UL's task will be made harder when four of their regular players will miss the encounter due to academic commitments but Mampshika has full faith in the players coming into the squad.
"There are two youngsters who I'm bringing in to make their debuts. So I will need to chat to them a little to get them motivated for the match. They have the talent but I need them to be mentally ready," he added.
Mampshika said his side outplayed their opponents (UWC) and could easily have claimed their first win against them but were let down by their finishing. He has been hard at work focusing on his players being more clinical in front of goal.
UL will make the trip to the Windy City knowing they have the support of a football mad university and will be going all out to make them proud.
"We are ready for the Madibaz. They should not underestimate us because we proved against NWU and UWC that we are no push overs. We are the underdogs and will be going all out to make our university proud of us," he said.
