Yesterday, FIFA rejected our appeal against their ruling which will see us banned from making transfers until January 2016. Naturally, this is worrying news and the club will make another appeal to the CAS to change the decision, but I think we will be just fine.
After all, we may not be able to buy players from outside the club, but we still have our famous Youth Academy, La Masia. Most fans have forgotten that we never had to use the transfer market at all when we acquired players like Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Pique, Pedro and Valdes.
They were raised to be Barcelona players from a very young age and the transfer ban will only help us put more focus into reproducing young players of similar quality to our golden generation.
Not so long ago, in December 2011, we had just won the Champions League, as well as La Liga and we managed to be crowned the greatest club in the World in a victory against Al-Sadd where we fielded nine home grown players in our starting 11 for the Club World Cup Final.
Valdés, Piqué, Puyol, Busquets, Thiago, Xavi, Fábregas, Iniesta and Messi where all on the team sheet that night, and the magic that brought those players together still exists at our club. We just need to put our faith into the system and we will have no problems over the next 18 months.
