SuperSport United burst out of the starting blocks this season, taking their place on top of the PSL in the early stages, only to slip down the league as the games went on.
Matsatsantsa lost just one of their first eight league games of the 2013/14 season, claiming an impressive 3-1 win over reigning champions, Kaizer Chiefs, along the way, and were hotly tipped as title challengers.
However, Cavin Johnson’s team have now won just one in their last six, conceding nine goals, and have slipped down to sixth on the log.
With the club having brought in a host of big names ahead of the start of the season, there are certain expectations on Johnson to achieve things in his debut campaign with the club, though they aren’t a club known for pulling the trigger on their coaches.
Stan Matthews has already made moves to strengthen his team in January, bringing in Lebogang Manyama and securing pre-contracts with the likes of Thato Mokeke and Clayton Daniels, though only time will tell as to whether Matsatsantsa can challenge for the PSL title or not.
