Moroka Swallows are once again one of the teams currently challenging for the Absa Premiership title, but the Birds are likely to find themselves fighting for a top eight position at the end of the season.
It has been proven over the years that a team needs match winners and also depth in order to win the league and Swallows have few match winners and no depth in the team. With Swallows coach Zeca Marques also opting to use a relatively small squad this season, injuries and suspensions to key players might lead to the Birds not only failing to win the league, but struggling to stay in the top eight come end of the season.
Another issue, Swallows rely heavily on players like Lefa Tsutsulupa, Siyabonga Nomvethe and Lerato Chabangu for results. Granted, loan striker Edward Manqele has been scoring some goals for them, but the Kaizer Chiefs saga has left some uncertainty. All these issues mentioned above point to one thing, and that is, Swallows won’t win the league this season.
