It has been revealed in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma that Mamelodi Sundowns have joined the race for Siphelele Mthembu’s signature, but the question is: who would have to make way for him?
Mthembu had a fantastic 2013/14 season at Platinum Stars, where he scored eight goals in all competitions. His confidence seems to be at an all-time high, after having unsatisfactory stints with Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. Ironically, Chiefs want him back... and Sundowns now reportedly want him too!
We have alot of strikers in the team, and to be honest, most of them are quality, so the others will have to be released going into the new season. It is not yet clear if the club will keep the duo of Richard Henyekane and Edward Manqele, who did not get game time at the club but did extremely well out on loan. Meanwhile, Cuthbert Malajila and Katlego Malajila will play a big part for the team next season.
Mthembu’s impending arrival could spell the end of Rodney Ramagalela’s career at Sundowns. The former Black Leopards striker has failed to show a consistent run of form in front of goal since joining at the beginning of the season, so if Mthembu is to join the Brazilians, then he is the one to make way.
Do you agree with this, MaSandawana?
