Striking Crises in South Africa

Without a shadow of a doubt being a striker is the toughest job the team simply because you are measured by the number of goals you score, and we know goals are a rear commodity in our league.

Unlike a midfielders or even a defenders, where there is cover the striking position leaves the player exposed to scrutiny and criticism.

This begs the questions; where are all the good strikers? Take a look at team like Orlando Pirates for example. They have 5 decent strikers but none of them can score goals at consistent rate.

If the striking position is that specialised, then isn’t it time PSL clubs acquire specialist coaches to assist in their striking departments?
