In his day Josta Dladla was a special player who had bags and bags of pace down the flanks. Not only that he had a mean cross and an eye for goal.
When he arrived at Chiefs in the 2009/2010 season he was employed in a more central position as Amakhosi realised the days of Josta bombing up and down the flanks were over.
Still, Josta played with exceptional ability and poise commanding the midfield and using his bucket-loads of experience to pick out the crucial passes and positioning himself to score crucial goals.
But now it seems the only thing that’s keeping the number 9 at Chiefs is heart more than his legs. The desire is still there but unfortunately I have to say Josta doesn’t have the legs to play the same way he used to.
Please don’t misquote me... I’m not saying his professional career is over... the man still has 3 or 4 good seasons in him but not with a big club like Chiefs, who always employ a high tempo, attacking style of football.
When JD joined Chiefs, he played a total of 1780 minutes of football. In the following season he completed 1457 minutes of football. In the past 2012/13 season Josta played a total of 325 minutes. Those numbers tell the story.
