So, the opening weekend of the Premier League has ended in disappointment. Louis Van Gaal lost his first competitive game in charge to Swansea, despite heightened expectations. Yet, all is not lost and we can still hang onto hopes of having a successful season.
After all, it was Van Gaal’s first game in charge. Rome wasn’t built in a day, as they say. We were missing a lot of players through injury. Luke Shaw and Robin van Persie were the most notable absentees, and the fact that we started Tyler Blackett in defence is evidence that we were not at full strength.
Beyond all that, the transfer window still has two more weeks to run. Lately, Jim White has linked us with Roma’s talented defender, Mehdi Benatia. With a possible move for Angel Di Maria on the cards as well, it is very much a possibility that our squad depth and quality could drastically improve.
So, I’m urging all United fans to remain patient and trust Louis Van Gaal to turn things around and deliver us back to the kind of quality standing that we’ve come to expect from Manchester United.
