Two names have caught my attention as Chiefs embark on their mission to find Knowledge Musona’s successor: there is the silent assassin, Edward Manqele, and the imposing Siphelele Mthembu.
Both forwards have their qualities and flaws, and I guess who you choose will depend entirely on the kind of striker you prefer.
Manqele is your intelligent, mobile runner who plays on the shoulders of defenders, whilst Mthembu is your holding type striker who brushes defenders off his shoulders (though he has also demonstrated pace and mobility).
Ultimately, the deciding factor for Chiefs will be goals and who between the two has the potential to be more prolific.
Mthembu has a total of 26 appearances with 8 goals in all competitions whilst Manqele has played 21 games in all competitions scoring 12 goals...You do the math!
But if maths isn't your strong suit, here's a bit of help: Mthembu has a strike rate of about 0.31, while Manqele's strike rate is 0.57. You can see who has the advantage.
